The blue whale, the largest animal ever known to have existed, has a heart that weighs about 400 pounds (181 kg) – approximately the same weight as a baby elephant. Despite its enormous size, it beats only 5-10 times per minute. A blue whale can consume up to 4 tons of krill in a single day through filter feeding.
